"Return To Me" 1956-1961 8-CD & 86-PAGE-BOOK This deluxe eight-CD boxed set completes the retrospective of Dean Martin’s Capitol recordings. It contains all of his recordings from 1956 to 1961. This was Dean’s artistic and commercial hey-day. He had just split from Jerry Lewis, and his first solo movies established him as a major box-office draw. His records continued to sell well despite the rock ‘n’ roll’s onslaught and he was fast becoming the king of the lounges. This set contains timeless Dino classics such as Return To Me, Rio Bravo, Angel Baby, Volare, On An Evening In Roma and Standing On The Corner. The real story of Dean’s recording career during the late Fifties and early Sixties, though, was in the LPs. This box contains all of the LPs from these years, including ‘Sleep Warm (Dean Sings, Sinatra Conducts)’, ‘ Winter’s Romance’, ‘This Time I’m Swingin’’, ‘Dino’, and ‘Cha Cha D’Amour’. It also contains many unissued recordings, as well as soundtrack and transcription recordings. Guest artists include Jerry Lewis, Judy Holliday, John Wayne, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan. In addition, there is an 86-page LP-sized book with a newly researched biography by John Chintala, a biographical essay by Billy Vera, a complete discography and filmography, and many previously unseen photos as well as posters and lobby cards from the movies. A true Dino-fest!

To Dean Martin, it was all so simple: "Look, I sing a song. If it's a hit, beautiful. If it isn't, we try again. Why make it complicated?" In 1962, he signed with Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records, and –just as most singers from the Fifties were seeing their careers implode – Dean's career was spectacularly reborn. He had grown tired of hearing his son raving over the Beatles, and told him he could still record a #1 hit that would blow his little "pallies" right off the chart. And that's exactly what he did. In August 1964, Everybody Loves Somebody knocked the Beatles from #1! The following year, he launched 'The Dean Martin Show,' one of the most successful series in the history of television. Dean Martin had never really been away, but now he was back! This 6-CD plus bonus DVD set includes all of Dean's recordings for Reprise between 1962 and January 1966. All of the great, long-unavailable albums from that era are here, 'French Style,' 'Dino Latino,' and the first two stellar country albums, 'Dean 'Tex' Martin: Country Style' and its sequel, 'Dean 'Tex' Martin Rides Again'. This set also includes the mood music classic, 'Dream With Dean' (featuring the original late hours version of Everybody Loves Somebody) as well as the hit single version and the album that followed. This box also includes Dean's subsequent hits like The Door Is Still Open To My Heart, You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You, Houston, and I Will, as well as the signature song from his television show, Welcome To My World. The classic mid-Sixties album 'Remember Me I'm The One Who Loves You' is here, together with rare singles and one previously unissued recording. There are also never-before-reissued soundtrack recordings, and the guide vocals for foreign versions that he never overdubbed. Plus, there's a DVD of movie trailers IN ENGLISH and special bonus tracks! This set also features a LP size hardcover book with many previously unseen photographs, a complete discography and a biography of Dean during this period by Ryan Null. ************************************************** --- 6-CD plus DVD---Boxed Set (LP-Size) with Hardcover-Book --- (CLICK TO SEE LARGER PHOTO)
OUT OF STOCK OUR PRICE: $169.95 plus shipping & handling By 1966, when this retrospective begins, Dean Martin was once again one of the biggest stars in American entertainment...perhaps the biggest! His records were selling more than ever; his top-rated television show was renewed year-after-year; his appearances in Las Vegas were sell-outs; and he was the star of the cult Matt Helm movies. This 6-CD (plus DVD) collection includes all of Dean Martin's classic Reprise albums from 1966 to 1974 together with his last recordings from 1983 and 1985. Here are all of his later hits, including Somewhere There's A Someone, Come Running Back, Lay Some Happiness On Me, In The Chapel In The Moonlight, and Little Old Wine Drinker Me. This set also includes all the LPs, 'Somewhere There's A Someone', 'Songs From The Silencers', 'The Dean Martin Christmas Album', 'The Dean Martin TV Show', 'Happiness Is Dean Martin', 'Welcome To My World', 'Gentle On My Mind', 'I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I Am', 'My Woman My Woman My Wife', 'For The Good Times', 'Sitting On Top Of The World', 'You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me', and the final Reprise album, 'Once In A While.' When Dean recorded again it was for Warner Bros. Nashville, and the resulting album included a duet with Conway Twitty on My First Country Song, which became a Top 40 country hit, and a duet with Merle Haggard on Everybody's Had The Blues. In 1985, Dean made his final recording, L.A. Is My Home, which became the closing theme to Joe Pesci's television show, Half Nelson. The set concludes with the soundtrack versions A Wonderful Time and I'm Not The Marrying Kind, plus two soundtrack versions of Five Card Stud. There are some radio spots and an exclusive tape of songwriter Baker Knight (The Wonder Of You, Lonesome Town, etc.) demo'ing some songs for Dean that Dean eventually didn't record. In addition, there's a bonus DVD of movie trailers (dubbed in German). When Dean Martin died on Christmas Day 1995, an era died with him. He was the last of the great lounge performers. His easygoing insouciance and roguish charm are now back in fashion. This set, and its three companion volumes, comprise absolutely everything that Dean Martin recorded. An incredible legacy from the most incredible entertainer. This set also includes a hardcover book with many previously unseen photographs, a complete discography, a biography of Dean during this period by Ryan Null, and an appreciation by Neil T. Daniels. **************************************************
